A Practical Tool to Walk Away From Your Inner Chatterbox
it's so simple it actually seems to work
Earlier today I was wandering up my favorite trail looking forward to a solo walk in nature. Life had recently got in the way of me getting outside and my heart was longing for fresh air, open space, and especially deep silence.
Unfortunately, each step I took seemed to invite the companion in my head (her name is Daisy) to talk louder and faster as she attempted to work it ALL out. She left no stone unturned in her effort to have me fully sorted out by the end of my walk.
It was as if I was split in two — one part of me was looking around at Nature’s bounty, amazed to be fortunate enough to have this in my back yard, and the other part of me was yammering away wrecking my mojo.
I tried a walking meditation, I tried to focus on one thing, I tried to pay attention to my surroundings, I tried everything to quiet my mind but nothing would deter her annoying chatter.
