Eden, Darling! I am so happy to see you here❤️❤️

Love this Donna and I agree with mentioning Dolly, she is one of my idols and I would gladly take advice from her all day long! I think when you've gone deep and then deeper with your healing, it is those moments when you realise what has changed, in that very moment that makes me thing thank heavens it wasn't all for nothing. That might just be me though..........

My dear Louise I am so sorry for such a delayed response to your lovely comment. You are right that it can be a welcome relief to catch a glimpse of the fruit of our efforts. Healing from the inside out is often a silent slog and it can feel like we aren't gaining any traction so it's always great to see if we've changed.

I'm so glad you included Dolly in the list of luminaries, she really is the Buddha of our times!

As I'm over here recovering from shingles, stuck in the muddy middle of my novel, and just generally feeling exhausted and a little downtrodden, your posts arrive like a cup of chamomile tea with a splash of Red Bull. So great to be reminded that the little wins are actually bigger than they appear in the mirror. Big hug to you, my dear! 🩵🩵🩵

Damn I’m so sorry to hear you have shingles Troy🥲🥲 Your family has had a lot on the plate this year.

I LOVE that my essay was a mix of chamomile tea and Red Bull, that’s the best! Thank you.

I have so many ‘Be Well’ platitudes I could lay down here, none of them helpful, but know I am truly sending you love and healing vibes from here❤️

Thank you dear, it has been a lot. 🩷

I found myself patting my own back on a few of these. For one I have learned to let people be crabby and not take their attitude personally. Thanks!

Donna McArthur's avatar

That's a big win Jennifer! I am fascinated by how contagious other people's emotions seem to be so being able to let them have their own grumpiness without taking it on is huge. It usually isn't about us anyway but sometimes that's hard to see in the moment. Well done and thanks for taking the time to comment💕

Hi Donna! Woke up super early this morning - glad that this is what I landed on when I turned on my laptop. Yes, that would address the "sit in silence" sentence - I guess I would have to answer "kinda not there yet"! But I can get so much done! I love these pointers, these things to ponder. Really great way to check in - and even better when realizing that some progress has been made - and it helps identify the ones that stand out as needing a little more attention. I love all the responses too. As you know, I love paper and pencil. Wrote them all down so that I can easily find and think about them as I work my way through the short winter days and dark early mornings and evenings. Which one would that statement fit in? I think I may be judging the weather (why couldn't the Universe find a better structure for winter days?) rather than saying "that's about me"!! Well, I will say it here. It is about me!!! Wonder if I can shift that this winter. Sounds like a challenge I should embrace, doesn't it?

Donna McArthur's avatar

Hil, I am glad you brought up the weather because it holds a lot of real estate in my head! Isn't it funny/not funny how some of us (me!) get mad at the weather🤣?! I think it's a huge sign of growth to be able to move through our days simply accepting the weather as it is without complaint. There's a goal! Talk about being in the moment. Another thing I kinda work on is not talking about the weather with my patients. I remind myself we have much more interesting topics, unless they are a farmer or skiier!

I'm glad you found this little list helpful. Thank you so much for your insightful comment, I love it💕

Along with the new WWDD ( What would Dolly do?), another of my mantras that may even get inked on someday is "be here now".

Donna McArthur's avatar

I forgot about WWDD! Thanks for the reminder Heather. Your thoughts on a tattoo remind me of the first time I saw a clock where each of the hands pointed to the word NOW. It was very cool.

So great when we can recognize those struggles. When it's done often enough it becomes habit. Habit becomes the personality.

Donna McArthur's avatar

Yes, thank you for this great reminder CK! It seems simple on the outside that repetition produces our personality but when we look back we can see it unfold so we want to make sure it's going in the right direction🙂

RIght Erica! Sometimes we forget this most simple thing. xo

Thanks Donna for the signposts.

Haha. So close! I think that's what counts. ❤️❤️

This is a great post. You have hit the nail on the head for sure!

I chuckled as I read and reflected on each of your points.

I am happy to share that I have advanced for most of the IT points but still need to work on a couple of them.

Thank you for your beautiful insights.

Donna McArthur's avatar

Thank you so much Carrie. It's one of those tricky things about adulting that going through those hard times help us find IT, but we can't usually see that in the moment. I wish it was easier🥲

As always, I appreciate your presence!

Having just finished reading Living in the Light, and taking a moment to chill in my hotel room in Barcelona, post Mediterranean cruise the list helps me to reflect and celebrate all the work I have done in the last 6 years to become the person I am authentically meant to be. Still have work to do but thanks for being you and sharing!!!!!!

And yes I maybe considered one of those people who are entitled when they enter the valley. lol!

Donna McArthur's avatar

Carla you are absolutely NOT one of those people. I laugh even thinking about it! You're pretty much the complete opposite as you're filled with deep caring for the people and land of this place.

I'm so glad to hear you are over there seeing the world and taking some much needed time. May it be a balm for your hurting soul my friend💕

I am so happy to see you here, thank you for taking the time out of your holiday to comment. Safe travels.

Great article Donna. It had me chuckling throughout and it also made me stop and reflect on each item in your list. Yes sometimes I am doing IT 💗

Donna McArthur's avatar

I'd say you're more than doing IT Heath😘 Thank you for being here (and everywhere!) with me and taking the time to comment. I'm glad you liked this little essay.

Donna, I love your list! Especially with the caveat of it coming from a silly place. Which can be added to the list too.. not taking things so seriously, being more carefree/light with what is. This list is a wondrous guide, and we have been advised to hold them gently. I love that!

Donna McArthur's avatar

Yes Julie! Thank you for reminding us of the key to it all which is to hold it gently. Often I find myself holding on with a big, ole squeeze which pretty much defeats what I'm doing🤣. I am thrilled to see you here, thanks for taking the time to read and comment, it means a lot.
