Why the hell not
holiday tidings just kidding this has nothing to do with the holidays

Remember moments ago when this year began
So much can happen in such a short time
Life moves quickly
We really need to get that in our bones and in our heart
But it’s a hard thing to grasp as we plow through our days
Because
The to do list and demands
But
The old people tell us differently
Pay attention they warn it goes fast
They would tell us its not cliche to say
The time is now
Truly
To notice what has been hollering at us from the inside
Asking for some damn action
Begging us to lean toward the thing that lives in our heart that we never reach for
The old people would ask
If we feel whole and when we say no they would say why the hell not
Do you even know what is true for you
As you
Give yourself permission
That you don’t need from anyone else
xoxo Donna
P.S. One of the many reasons I love writing is because we never know where it will take us. This piece wrote itself as I stood back wondering who was writing it, because it certainly is not in my usual voice and yet I felt thirsty for this message. I was surprised at the freedom I felt writing without punctuation. May this be our reminder that we can find growth and interesting parts of ourselves in small, hidden places in our lives.

Why the hell not indeed?! 🙏
“Begging us to lean toward the thing that lives in our heart that we never reach for”
— powerful words Donna.
I enjoyed this alternate format. It’s good to see you playing with your writing — may we all play more in the new year :)
