The world is in such pain. Why bother with the heart-centered work of creativity and self-exploration? What’s the point? This is what I ask myself.
Dear One, we cannot underestimate the power of our collective souls desperately wanting peace and non-violence. I believe the light in each individual is what will shift the collective, it is through anchoring into ourselves we can do greater good.
The whole is made up of the sum of its parts which is why I believe it’s through anchoring into ourselves, to create greater well-being, that we can affect our community. When we each find a way to feel a little lighter, to shift our energy from frustration and pain to compassion and love, we may come together in peace to create a different world. This is why I continue to show up doing work that may, on a broader scale, seem unimportant. I want to help you see the light inside yourself which will have a ripple effect.
I stand with and pray for, the victims of the senseless violence in Israel and Palestine. I stand with and pray for all those around the world affected by racism and the effect this violence is causing.
I have admired
since I arrived on Substack, I mean in a big way! She is smart and sensitive, she shares parts of her story to help others and she is a mighty fine writer and editor. So, imagine my delight when she invited me to contribute to her series Cave of the Heart. I was so thrilled I did a happy dance and waltzed right on into that cave. I did not know what to expect in the Cave of the Heart and was surprised at what I uncovered! Sometimes we need to dig in the dirt to find the right path.Cave of the Heart examines how self trust plays into our creativity. “But I’m not creative” I hear you saying! Honeybun, you are - creativity is life. We are all creative in one way or another. What follows is the story of my journey.
I invite you to subscribe to Amanda’s excellent newsletter so you can catch all the posts in this series, as well as check out her other articles.
I appreciate your presence in my online world, it means a lot to me. I would love to hear from you in the comments. At times like this I find it very nourishing to know I am connected to lovely folks all over the world. May you be well❤

I read your Cave of the Heart contribution, Donna - deep wisdom as always. And regarding this moment in time - the world holds its breath, but we can't just stop breathing - we must keep returning to the work of compassion, beauty and love, even when (as now) it is difficult.
I feel your sentiment Donna and echo that it can feel that individually it's difficult to make any difference at all. As a collective with a shared wanting, hope and desire for a peaceful resolution we can shine a light of comfort and courage and lift others out of the darkness. Thank you for being the light. 🙏
