Love that idea of " go do and be all the things!" When I graduated high school, I said something big and grand like that. Fast forward 44 years, it still works for my way of thinking. Thanks for sharing it and the encouragement to embrace all our parts.
I can definitely picture you saying that Heather! You continue to be an inspiration to everyone around you as you navigate what life has dished out with the utmost grace.
This piece is fantastic! And so helpful to someone modeling her complexity for a bunch of kids. Could I try to present as “perfect”? Yes—but I would set my sons up to grapple with all this same stuff as they realize they contain shadow as well as light. I feel so much safer when I own all parts of myself—I have nowhere to fall. My feet are on the ground. And I get a marvelous opportunity at repair, showing my friends and family my tenderness & opening space for deeper connection. Even the mistakes can be a win. I’m so glad I found this piece. I will come back to it when the perfectionist voice begins her whispers :)
I'm glad you found this post helpful Isabel. I've been reading some interesting research recently (Ellen Langer, PhD The Mindful Body) about how being mindful affects those around us and it's mind-blowing. So, you are right that showing up owning all parts of ourselves gives others permission to ask the questions and do the same thing. I have certainly noticed this over the years (I'm quite a bit older than you).
Thanks Claire, I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment. Especially with the super busy week you have getting back into the swing of things.
Thanks for this. Needed it!
Stephanie thank you for tuning in, I appreciate it!

Oh this is really really beautiful. I loved the part about knowing your whole self being a life times work - that really spoke to me. ✨🍃
