At a recent gathering of my oldest friends we had a lovely woman come in to do energy readings for our group. When I answered the door to greet her she immediately said, “there is some heavy energy in this house”. Yikes, what the heck did that mean? Was it me? Was it the house, the group, a ghost, or some airie-fairie baloney?
Well, Dear One, it turned out what she picked up on was me and it was not some weird, new-age fabrication. I was running on empty and it didn’t take a clairvoyant person to pick up on it. The reading she subsequently gave me was astute and empowering. Although I am stretched a little more than I would like I still sense I’m moving in the right direction. However, this hasn’t always been the case.
When our tank is empty we can feel directionless and not know what to do about it because it all feels too hard. It’s as if we are the rat running the race and getting nowhere because it’s too foggy to recognize where to make a turn.
If you’ve been noticing this in yourself I hope this short list helps you gain traction to shift out of autopilot, just as it has helped me in the past.
How to get where you want to go in five simple steps:
1. Figure out where you want to end up. Or, if you’re like me and can rarely see that far ahead, have some sort of vague idea of the direction you’re going and the landing point. Contrary to what the experts say, I don’t think we have to always have laser-sharp vision of our desired outcome but it does help if we aren’t flailing around in Neverneverland.
2. Figure out the obstacles you might meet along the way and what you can do about them. What’s the worst-case scenario? Are you willing to accept those possible consequences? Recognize that if the worst happens you will likely be able to manage it because you have already done many hard things in your life. Carry on Sweetheart.
3. Do ONE thing a day to move in that direction.
4. Taking one small step forward most days is going to eventually bring you to the edge of something that may seem scary. I believe this is called preparation. You’ve done everything you can and now you’re ready - even if it doesn’t feel like it! You’re going to arrive at the place where you eventually have to jump off the cliff and go for it. Jump and trust Honeybun. Trust and jump.
5. Remember you are awesome. Really, I’m not just saying that. There is some fantastic thing about you, probably many, many things. Pull one of them to the front of your mind and focus on it for a bit because there are people in the world who need what you have to share. Remind yourself you are worthy and don’t need permission. Rock on Dear Friend.
May you move closer to the beckoning of your soul. Rest easy if you don’t know what that is because you can simply show up. Take one step a day to listen to your true self and you WILL get somewhere. May you move with ease and be held in grace. May you know that I value your attention and never take it for granted, thank you for being here.
xoxo Donna
P.S. What do you do if you can’t see what to do next?
Have you ever had an energy reading? How did it go for you?
Great advice, Donna - it reminds me of the old saying "The next right thing" - doesn't matter what it is - a nap, a walk, a scream ;) as long as it feels right. And then do it again, and again.
Knowing where to draw the finish line or having a direction towards it is extremely crucial. It is so easy to get caught up in the rat race and if we don't know where to stop, we will keep desiring more until the day we die, which is a recipe for an unfulfilled life. I spend so much time thinking about the goals I want to achieve vs the goals I need to achieve in my life. Thank you for mentioning this point Donna!
Love your words✨
