Oh wow this means so much, thank you!! I just never know about how a bio, or anything like that, sounds to other people so I just go with what is meaningful to me.
I am glad you like it and so happy you’re here❤️
Also, do you prefer to be called Senetta or Diane or both together?
Dear Donna, Here and in all of your writing about change, I so appreciate how much time and care you give to the sluggish, reluctant, habitual mind. The poor thing needs so much coaxing, and you gently show the way: intention, helpers, faith, excitement for the feeling that COULD be.... It takes so many legs to hold up this stool, and somehow you have all the arms for it! Looking forward to your workshop!
I love how you put this Tara (which is why I restacked your comment - my first time figuring that out!). Yes, it does take so many legs to hold up this stool but it is possible so I wish to offer that hope to others, and myself.
I appreciate your presence here in my comments section. The brain is fascinating - I realize I am finally 'over' seeing a PhD University prof here (which freaked out my insecure self) and am thrilled to see my friend Tara❤. Progress!
Oh, good idea! I’ve never Restacked a comment and will learn from you, my friend. :-) If only I could intimidate my offspring with an academic robe. Sigh. It never works when ya need it.
Haha! At some point they will see you in it and the lightbulb will come on that it's a REALLY big deal. Right now you're just the one who makes the snacks🤣
This series gets richer every week. What a beautiful roadmap you have created. You bring such tenderness and inspire hope as someone who has done and does the work. This is heart-felt inspiration in sweet and loving support. Thank you.
Renee, I take your words to heart in a very big way. I know there are many places you can put your attention and want you to know I appreciate you dropping in here❤
I can be demanding with my opinions but I don't see any other path through other than to walk it, one foot in front of the other. The work must be done, unless the 'work' is in the rest. There's that too!
I echo you about doing the inner work. There is an inner pull to become. The inner work is to keep saying yes to that inner pull. which seems strangely contradictory, but the human likes comfort in the familiar. You give a gentle nudge to step outside our comfort zone and let our lives unfold toward the beauty that we already are.
There are so many beautiful nuggets of wisdom here. It can be terrifying to face some of these things within ourselves, but I see it as a necessary rolling up of the sleeves if we are to love and appreciate ourselves the way we deserve. And as much as the reminder can hurt, we do need to do the work and then a bit more and a bit more! 🙏💫
Oh yes Louise, love this! "And then a bit more and a bit more", it sounds so less daunting when you put it this way. I should've written DO THE WORK, and then a bit more! I like that much better😀
A wonderful piece, Donna. I love that you continually stressed “Do the work” and gave us practical steps to do so. I also really like that you promote preparing our mind for change and not just jumping in without a plan.
And I also loved this line: “Often our reactions and habits are the barriers between us and our soul.” — such a powerful point summed up so succinctly.
Wow, Donna, this is SO good! Every time I read one of your posts, I am renewed with excitement about making the change. You given us tons of great info in this one...I'm going to bookmark it and come back to it often. A bell went off for me right at the beginning when you mentioned making time and space for these new thoughts to happen. If we're swept up in the busy doing of life, it'll be darn near impossible to make new neural pathways. I do spend a lot of time in meditation and ritual, but not while also intentionally focusing on this change. I'm going to start that right now! Thank you, friend! 🤗❤️
I know what you mean Jenna, I've found the same thing with myself where I will sit in meditation and prayer without any focus on my inner world or intentional shifting. I think there may need to be a balance between the two - intention and surrender.
I am so glad you're finding useful info in some of these articles on change! I appreciate your presence very much❤
Donna, I read this at 7pm on NYE. I intend to read it again in the morning when things really sink in for me. Happy new year to you, I'm grateful I found your work when I did 😊
You are a much-welcomed addition to The Bright Life community so thank you for consistently showing up my friend. Also, side note that I sent you an email yesterday through you Substack email. I've found sometimes they don't arrive so please let me know if you don't get it.
I once had a heart centered epiphany at the mall. 70% off at Nordstroms touched my heart. Hehe.
Dr Joe always sites that chambermaid study. I love it. It’s a great example of how our intentions can completely alter our health, well being, etc.
I’ve recently discovered the health benefits of the Wim Hof breathing meditations. Life changing. I will have to tell you what happened when next we chat.
I’m sad to have to miss your Jan 14 zoom call. I will be in LA.
Thx for sharing your knowledge and research on this important subject. 🙏
Hahaha! I admit that I occasionally get those same epiphanies in the mall🤣 but they are a little different than what I'm talking about here!
I am loving the Dr Joe book, thank you again. I appreciate the science he shares. I've also just started Quantum Body by Deepak Chopra and it's going to be fascinating. Mind blowing science there.
You'll get the recording for my presentation so you can have a blast in LA and still check out the info (that you already know) when you get back. Let's chat after your trip.
As always, thank you for being here. I appreciate it very much💕
Thanks for this post Donna. From my perspective, belief is very close to perception. In other words, it's necessary to orientate the focus of perception towards something specific, so that after a succession of events people become believers in something. So, from my perspective, the cycle is as follows:
I agree Rolando., the order you posted seems to be how it goes. The other piece, however, is that we can also use our physiology (movement and food in particular) to start that same cascade. For example, movement is like a massage for our brain which helps us feel different by elevating our energy, creating an emotion which allows us to soften into our beliefs and perceptions. (But I know you know this, since it's what you do! I just thought I'd add it for our readers🙂)
As always, I appreciate you commenting and being here in The Bright Life community!
Sure Donna. I agree with you. Movement is very important to our cognition. Cerebellum, the area of the Brain responsible for coordination and movement is the largest of the Brain. It must means something 😀🤝
-- Oh, Donna! In my view, belief serves as a powerful lens through which individuals interpret and navigate the complexities of life, shaping perspectives, decisions, and resilience in the face of challenges. And in the end, it’s not like we have any other choices, right? Wishing you a year filled with joy, growth, and meaningful moments. May each day bring you closer to your aspirations, and may the journey ahead be filled with positivity and success. P.S. A new piece is coming from me soon. Xo.
Lots to unpack here. Being in a particularly deep rut at the moment, this article offered a spark and I am grateful for that. I am going to go back and re-read it. Happy New Year...ironic saying that. Almost feels like imposter syndrome because it sounds fake to me at the moment....and yet, I don't think it is impossible. I am pretty sure it isn't going to start when the clock strikes twelve.
You have gone through so much this year Adele. If something in my writing offers you a spark of hope it has made my year of work is worthwhile. My desire is to offer hope and possibility to my readers and, while you're right that it may not occur on the stroke of 12 because linear time is an illusion, sometimes that happens in a trickle effect - one drop at a time. You hear or read something that resonates and allow it in, and then the next thing, and slowly the light emerges. This is my wish for you Dearest❤
I stopped by because you have a wonderful bio, lover of coffee and human potential is just priceless so I'm here.

Yup, and distasteful snacks at that. 🙄😂
🤣

I love this refrain: Do the work.
There are so many places to turn here.

Thank you Michael! Wishing you a wonderful year ahead. I look forward to continued connection.
As do I :)
You have a special light inside of you, I hope you see it and allow it to be.
... this fits so perfectly in with Januarys Energy Expression Reading. Thank you for the echoing of this powerful reminder.
Excellent! I'm heading right over there to read it❤
