Exactly what I needed to hear: 1000 times a day I tell myself "I can't do this - I'm so exhausted" - time to pause, take a breath, and be both gentler and clearer about what's real. Thanks, Donna!

I have been in that same place recently. There are so many reasons for it, some are fabricated in my mind, others are real. I'm glad my words were helpful Troy, I will reread them myself a few times!

“Beware Honeybun, irritablity is a sneaky trait and a lifetime of responding mindlessly may mean we get better and better at clenching our jaw and talking in a snarky tone which makes doing difficult things even worse and turns us into a grumpy old person!”

Oh God forbid it’s so quick 🙄

It certainly is quick and sneaky. Much daily diligence required!

“Bendy doesn’t break” — love it!

I really liked this piece, Donna. It’s in the ‘not-so-fun’ moments that your reminders to step back and observe help me the most.

Thank you :)

Thank you so much Michael!

Sometimes it all feels pesky and sometimes overwhelming and we know what makes the difference…being too busy, tired, over-sugared, hungover. All of it will tip the scales.

I love the reframe of offering up suffering to the poor souls and switching it to an energy of compassion, for ourselves and others. Thank you so much Tara for taking the time to offer such an insightful comment.❤️❤️❤️

Love this one!! Finding what’s “sacred” in the things I don’t want to do. Brilliant. I was always impatient with computers and now that I’m learning a video editing software I will find the passion. The sacred. First tho is Patience. Ugh. 😩

Donna McArthur's avatar

I’ve been told patience is sacred. I’m still working on it. Video editing software would certainly test my limits too. I look forward to seeing your videos as I subscribed to your YouTube channel. You should post the link here for my readers!

Thanks for your post. The task I least enjoy doing is dealing with bureaucracy. I only do it when I really have to, otherwise I pay someone else to do it.

But when I really have to do it, I usually take a day off work and do all the bureaucratic tasks that day

I wholeheartedly agree Rolando! Administrative tasks stretch the limits of the calmest soul!

Thank you for this laugh: "No matter what color of rose I tint my glasses I can’t quite see an adult world where there isn’t a teensy bit of this requirement"! 😂

I go through phases when these pesky things are just pesky, but I get the essentials done, and phases when they stop me in my tracks.

I was raised in a Catholic family where we were taught to "offer up" any suffering (mild as it was) "for the poor souls in Purgatory." (My grandmother had all the language of the religious leaflets down pat.)

Translated into the more ecumenical language I use now, this would mean something like reaching my mind/energy/compassion out to those whose sufferings are harder than mine while I slog through the pesky business I'm avoiding. I can't say it always works, but thank you for reminding me. I'll try it today. Maybe I'll put on my rose-colored sunglasses. Dontcha know, I have a pair, too. 😉

I loved your topic and so can relate to seeing the world (or trying to) in rose coloured glasses.

I like to stay organized and clutter free . When my closet, cupboards and drawers become unorganized I procrastinate and don’t take the time to reorganize them when I first notice this. The procrastination is the worst part I’m realizing .

If I just do it , it doesn’t take long, feels so good and provides the freedom to more of what I like doing. Thanks for the great post !

Haha Lynn, I think you read my mind! I walked into my closet last night and thought 'there are so many clothes in here I can't find something to wear'. Yikes! Your comment reminds me of the saying (sorry I can't recall exactly how it goes) that it takes discipline to gain freedom. Many folks may not recognize that keeping their stuff the way that suits them best allows them to move through their day more freely. Thanks for pointing this out.❤
